AT&T plans to cut 461 Florida jobs in its land-line operation… Paul Mueller manufacturing plant is laying off between 150 and 200 production workers… ST-Ericsson will be downsizing its Swedish workforce by 150 employees… Colorado Springs will be laying off 93 city employees, with layoffs occurring this month and through next March… The Hawthorne Army Depot of Mineral County, Nevada has laid off 91 workers… Up to 50 employees of Montana’s Great Falls Clinic have been laid off… Ohio’s Highland Local Schools Board of Education is laying off 22 staff beginning Jan. 19… Integrated ad agency Mullen has handed out 15 pink slips this week at its Boston office, cutting 5 percent of its Boston workforce… Layoffs are imminent inVirginia’s Hampton Schools as they prepare for new budget cuts…

Some good news: Aurora union has agreed to concessions and avoided layoffs.

Steel manufacturer Corus is cutting 1,700 jobs in 2010… In an effort to restructure, solar power company Energy Conversion Devices is slashing its workforce by 400 jobs… Thomson Reuters Corp. will eliminate 240 jobs in its legal businesses… As part of its restructuring process after the purchase of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer is laying off 200 workers from the Pearl River facility formerly owned by Wyeth, effective Mar. 12… Abbott Laboratories has let go of 80 temporary employees from its medical devices factory in Temecula, CA…

Bulgarian Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) plans to cut 564 workers by next year… Pfizer plans to lay off 414 employees in northern New York… Florida Power & Light Co.‘s Inadiantown solar has laid off 170 workers… Layoffs handed out by publisher Gannet Co. include 26 newsroom cuts at USA Today and 11 staff cuts as USA Weekend magazine… Missouri Department of Transportation is laying off 100 employees statewide… The Greenspun Media Group, publisher of the Las Vegas Sun, has laid off 20 employees… 19 layoffs in Lucas County have been approved by county commissioners… Carroll County has approved 18 layoffs which go in effect in February… Bellevue game start-up Smith & Tinker has laid off up to 15 employees in an effort to retain company profits…

AOL will reduce its staff by a third, laying off about 2,300 people…BusinessWeek is reducing its staff by 130…Fresno, CA mayor is proposing 125 municipal layoffs and 5 furlough days between New Year’s and Christmas for most other city employees… Fairfax County Public Libraries will be laying off 107 employees, including those working full- and part-time in the administration, library operations, and technical operations departments… Associated Press has laid off an additional 33 newsroom employees-resulting in 90 layoffs this week-reaching its goal of a 10 percent payroll cut…

The good news: Iowa Gov. Chet Culver is close to formulating an agreement that may prevent 479 state government layoffs.

The bad: Hawaii state layoffs begin today and expect to effect 650 employees by the end of the year… Upwards of 500 San Francisco union workers face layoffs, pay cuts, and job reassignments… Cincinnati’s Metro has laid off 19 full- and part-time workers and will be letting go of another 101 employees, including unionized workers, part-time employees, and full-time administrators… Newsweek is planning approximately one dozen staff layoffs… Anheuser-Busch is laying off 45 hourly workers from its Manitowoc plant… Mayor Reichert of Macon, Ga. intends to layoff 31 city employees… Australian game developer Krome Studios is laying off up to 30 employees from its Brisbane studio… Santa Clara, Calif.-based factory equipment maker Applied Materials is cutting up to 12 percent of its workforce… An undeclared number of layoffs are to take place at Sinclair Tulsa Refining Co. as it merges with Holly Corp…

Approximately 100 hourly workers at the Ford Stamping Plant in Woodlawn are facing a week-long layoff… Butler Sheriff’s Office will lay off 40 deputies if no other budget solutions are found… Tulsa is laying off 21 police officers and issuing seven-day layoff notices to 16 non-public safety officials… The town of Carbondale is laying off 5 workers while giving others furlough and instituting wage and hiring freezes… Features Director James Reginato has left W magazine and more layoffs are expected… Arizona school system is facing a possible massive teacher layoff next year due to budget cuts… Time Inc. is carrying out layoffs in its Time, Money, Fortune, and Sports Illustrated departments before the Thanksgiving break…
