The Potash Corporation has laid off 700 mine workers at its Lanigan and Rocanville mines… The 2010 Albany County budget includes 109 layoffs, most from the county nursing home… Aviation firm AAR Aircraft Services is laying off 106 employees this December… High-performance-audio maker, Stillwater Designs, is laying off 50 employees by the end of the month… Shaba Games has laid off 30 employees, leaving only 50 percent of its former workforce still employed… Conde Nast has laid off 15 employees from its digital unit… LPGA headquarters announced 8 staff layoffs, including the elimination of the Deputy Commissioner position.

Rocket maker ATK has laid off 550 workers in Utah… Blue Cross will let go 150 by year’s end…Boise Cascade is laying off 130 Oakdale workers by December 1st… Another round of layoffs at the Caterpillar Lafayette plant will start next month and affect 106 production employees… plant Fisher Controls has laid off 79 Marshalltown employees and is closing it’s Portsmouth, N.H. plant… GE Money eliminates 65 jobs…Habbo Hotel is letting go 40…Los Angeles based 7 Studios lays off 30 employees…

United Space Alliance lays off 258 shuttle contractors, believed to be the beginning of a mass layoff of space-program employees… In its third round of layoffs Texas Health Resources cuts 100 jobs… Covenant Health System has begun a second round of layoffs affecting 48 employees… 42 workers at the Watson Laboratories plant will be out of a job by the end of the year… Gill and Montague School Systems are in danger of facing layoffs pending a new budget… Layoffs possible in the Saginaw School District in Michigan.

The West Corporation, a telecommunications company in Harlingen, Texas, is laying off 341 workers… First Industrial Realty Trust Inc is laying off 46 employees and closing four offices… Sierra Conservation Center expects 18 employee layoffs… Funcom is laying off 20 percent of its workforce with the heaviest cuts occurring in their Norwegian home offices… Princeton University staff is facing imminent layoffs after the school’s endownment declined by 23 percent.

Some Good News: Layoffs at Connecticut Natural Gas and Southern Connecticut Gas have been avoided. Detroit Mayor Bing is reducing the number of planned layoffs by 78 percent, now laying off 230 city workers instead of upwards of 1,000.

Governor Luis Fortuno announced a possible 22,000 public sector layoffs in Puerto Rico… 300 New York City workers face layoffs today, with more to follow, as a result of Bloomberg’s budget cuts…
