Screwed: 33,000 at Russian Post

The Russian Post announced Monday that it would slash 8% of its workforce, leaving 33,000 people unemployed… A Harley Davidson plant in Pennsylvania proposed union negotiations that would call for the layoffs of 1,000 workers but would preserve operations in their current location… Cincinnati city manager Milton Dohoney proposed laying off 315 people in order to close a $51.5 million budget shortfall… Engineered Plastic Components of Mattawan, Mich. is slated for closure by parent company Alcoa Inc., which would result in up to 310 layoffs… La-Z-Boy will close its Chattanooga, Tenn. plant and lay off 216 workers as part of a nationwide Mexican outsourcing effort… Canadian nursing home subcontractor Abbey Therapeutic Services laid off 200 employees last week… Cargotec plans to cut 168 Finnish employees… Case New Holland will reduce its workforce by 128 at a combine plant in Grand Island, Neb… Goodrich Aerostructures of Foley, Ala. will cut 78 jobs this January… CDG Management and Civic Development Group filed notice to close a Cumberland County, N.J. call center and eliminate 69 positions… The Naperville City Council of Illinois is considering slashing up to 57 employees from its payrolls in order to close a budget deficit.
