Bad news for employees of failed bank Colonial BancGroup Inc. It looks like BB&T (NYSE:BBT), which acquired the bank’s assets, could be announcing layoffs soon.
Colonial has 4,500 employees, and according to a BB&T press release the bank could lay off some employees in redundant positions, according to Montgomery Advisor.
Also, Exchange Bank laid off 10 employees last week and will close another branch this month, bank officials said Friday, The Press Democrat.
