Healthy—and Free—iPhone Apps

By Sara Clemence ⋅ 11:02 am August 6, 2009 ⋅ Post a comment

band aid red cross 200In a recession, health can become a much bigger issue. We get more stressed out, we have less money to spend on keeping ourselves healthy, some people have lost our healthcare coverage and many of us have more time to obsess about whether that new freckle might in fact be skin cancer.

That’s why we were psyched to find FierceHealthcare’s list of 15 free healthcare iPhone apps. Yes, some should be on a list of Apps Your Hypochondriac Boyfriend Shouldn’t Have. (iTriage “…allows patients to enter their symptoms into a database, where probable diseases, treatments and directions are automatically pointed out.”) Others are geared towards medical professionals. But a handful are useful for normal people—and, like we said, are free.

WebMD Mobile (another Hypochondriac No-No) lets you can check your symptoms on the go. EmergenKey lets you carry health information, like blood type and allergies, with you. Natural Cures is what it sounds like. There are diabetes, sleep and headache logs. May you download your way to better health.
