Bad News: Avtovaz, the largest Russian carmaker, is considering laying off about 27,000 employees…Verizon Communications is slashing another 8,000 jobs as it battles a pullback in business spending; the company cut the same number of workers over the last year…RadiSys will eliminate 119 jobs in Portland, Ore… 93 jobs will be lost at the GE Oil and Gas facility in Oshkosh, Wisc…United Airlines is letting go 50 baggage handlers at Lambert Airport in St. Louis…the Fresno County Sheriff in California is eliminating 48 positions...Lighting Science Group will ax 29 people when it closes its Westampton, N.J., facility…Boeing will let some machinists to volunteer for a “layoff with benefits” to help mitigate job cuts.
