Detroit Public Schools are cutting 2,500 jobs…Lloyd’s Banking Group Plc, England’s biggest mortgage lender, is laying off 2,100 employees in their Group Operations and wholesale banking divisions…3M has plans to let go 1,000 workers…Russian company VTB Group may layoff as many as 1,000 employees…Swedish firm SKF has plans to layoff 900 workers …Japanese company Canon is cutting 700 jobs…Washoe County in Reno, NV is letting go 300 people…UK company Air Products is closing their factory near Wrexham, costing 200 workers their jobs.

  1. This is what’s happening now. The public sector is staring to shed jobs. While government work seemed the obvious way to go, with business down and property valuations dropping, tax revenues are down. Cities and towns can’t afford to maintain schools and services.
